Who's Who at West London Opera
Who is Who and What They Do ... coming soon - so revisit often! To start - the Auditions Secretary.
Auditions Secretary
Ann Woolley (nee Underwood)
I have been the auditions secretary for West London Opera since my father, Tony Underwood, who founded West London Opera died in 2005. It has been a means of keeping in touch with the opera group when I live too far away to be able to participate fully in productions. Auditions are held once a year in the autumn specifically for the season's production the following May. Enquiries about auditions are received throughout the year and are added to the WLO mailing list. Notices of audition are sent out to the mailing list in the autumn - mainly by email although we also send out notices by traditional methods if we don't have an email address. The auditions usually take place early November and participants are invited to select a half-hour audition slot. Names are recorded on a "first come first served" basis. Participants may be asked to "act the part" as well as singing the set audition pieces. Generally parts are cast on the day of the auditions but if we are unable to cast a part sometimes it is necessary to hold extra auditions on an individual basis - these are usually done by the musical director, Gary Peacock.
If you are interested in being added to the mailing list and being notified of forthcoming auditions, please send your details to auditions@westlondonopera.org.uk
